CompTIA A+ Certification training at New Horizons can provide you the skills necessary to become A+ certified and ready for an entry-level career in the IT industry. CompTIA A+ certification is an internationally recognized, vendor-neutral certification that many employers consider a prerequisite for entry-level IT employment. A+ certification signifies competence in the fundamentals of hardware, software and operating systems; system troubleshooting and repair; networking; and security and operational procedures including communication skills that a helpdesk or remote support employee should have.

500 hours of hands-on lab or field experience.

Technical Features of the Course
- Hardware: storage devices, backup media, motherboards, processors, memory and cooling
- Operating Systems: commands, directory structures, disk management, administration, operation and optimization
- Networking: TCP/IP, mail protocol, FTP, proxy, broadband, wireless and routers
- Security: viruses, malware, permissions, encryption and authentication
Certification and Exams
An A+ certification candidate is required to pass two exams: A+ Essentials and A+ Practical Application.
Certification Renewal
CompTIA A+ certification earned the ISO 17024 accreditation from the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) in 2008. ISO requires that individual renew their certification on a regular basis. Effective January 1, 2011 CompTIA’s A+ certification holders will be subject to renewal every three years per ISO. However, candidates who pass the exam and become certified by December 31, 2010 will have a lifetime certification with no requirements for recertification or retesting.
