CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification is an internationally recognized, vendor-neutral certification that proves competency in enterprise security; risk management; research and analysis; and integration of computing, communications, and business disciplines. It includes the technical knowledge and skills required to conceptualize, design, and engineer secure solutions across complex enterprise environments. The course also involves applying critical thinking and judgment across a broad spectrum of security disciplines to propose and implement solutions that map to enterprise drivers.

Recommended Pre-requisites

While there are no strict prerequisites, CompTIA intends the CASP certification to serve as an add-on to the CompTIA Security+ certification, or equivalent technical experience. CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ will also be helpful. CompTIA also recommends that students have a minimum of 10 years of experience including at least five years of hands-on technical security experience.

A CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) certification candidate is required to pass a single exam.

Certification Renewal

CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification earned the ISO 17024 accreditation from the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) in 2008. ISO requires that individual renew their certification on a regular basis. CompTIA’s CASP certification holders will be subject to renewal every three years per ISO.
