New Cisco business tablet helps retailers manage communications

Cisco recently launched its Cius business tablet to allow companies and retailers to improve their collaboration and enhance productivity. The tablet goes with a variety of software for companies to use to help create, manage and deploy mobile business applications. Companies can provide IT training for employees if they wish to use the tablets.

Using some of the available software, companies can use cloud-based technology to improve sales, reduce overhead and provide real-time workforce activity feedback. For example, through the use of the Cisco tablet, retail staff can view their outstanding tasks, gather and report in-store data, and access a library of documents.

Cisco is also working with a biotech company in New Zealand to overhaul the company's infrastructure and networking for improved communications and operations. Argenta won the 2011 Cisco New Zealand Communications Makeover Competition and received $100,000 worth of technology and installed services from Cisco and Orcon. The biotech company plans to use the resources to connect its New Zealand offices with branches in the United States. The company will deploy video and web conferencing tools to remain connected as it works grow internationally into new markets.
