CompTIA and SNIA join together for new IT certification

CompTIA and the Storage Networking Industry Association recently created a new exam and certification for IT professionals, which will recognize the standards that have been set in the IT world for data storage.

The certification, titled CompTIA Storage+ Powered by SNIA, will focus on the configuration of storage systems and networks, ways to improve business continuity and data accessibility, integration with other storage systems and applications, and other basic troubleshooting issues in data storage.

"The rise in mobile computing, the shift to cloud-enabled services, a need for heightened security and a host of other factors add to the complexity of this environment, which can challenge even the most seasoned IT storage pro," said Terry Erdle, executive vice president of skills development for CompTIA.

According to IT World Canada, those seeking IT careers would be considered indispensable if they have mastered cloud services or data management. For many businesses, having an IT professional with knowledge of the cloud and data storage is vital for sustainability and growth.

The website spoke with a number of IT experts who believe "data artisans" will be one of the hottest jobs in the IT world in the coming years.
