IT outsourcing may soon come to an end

In President Barack Obama's recent State of the Union address, he asked IT companies to create more IT careers on American soil instead of outsourcing there jobs to foreign companies.

According to Infoboom, President Obama may be getting his wish, with many companies rethinking their outsourcing initiatives due to cost concerns and the efficiency of employees based in different countries.

The website reported many IT firms are beginning to practice "inshoring," which refers to finding jobs for IT professionals in the United States.

Brian Keane, founder of Ameritas Technologies, told the website that IT firms are beginning to find that offshore IT workers are not as familiar with the products and services of the companies that they are working for, leading to a lower level of customer service.

According to a blog post for Computerworld UK, another reason that outsourcing IT jobs may be slowly declining is that shifting operations to India is becoming less financially beneficial: costs are rising and employee turnover is high.
