IT professionals' salaries, bonuses increased last year

According to the 2012-2011 Salary Survey, many IT careers saw the largest annual salary growth since 2008, amounting to salary increases of more than 2 percent, which is an annual salary increase of nearly $2,000.

Bonuses for IT professionals increased 8 percent in 2011, with 32 percent of IT staff earning bonuses in the past year, compared with 29 percent in 2010.

"The increasing popularity of bonuses shows companies are rewarding their top performers," said Tom Silver, senior vice president for North America at Dice. "While everyone loves a bonus, anyone who has been through a cycle knows that bonuses both reward and punish.  In fast-changing markets, it's imperative for highly skilled tech professionals to capitalize on their career and compensation options."

One technology company that rewards its employees is LogicBoost located in the heart of Washington, D.C., reported the Washington Post.

Jonathan Cogley, CEO of LogicBoost, told the paper his employees receive annual bonuses of up to 7 percent, while also receiving 401k matches, four weeks vacation and full healthcare for the employee and his or her family.
