CompTIA study predicts IT growth in 2012

CompTIA's latest IT Industry Outlook 2012 predicts the sector worldwide will grow 4.5 percent in the next 12 months, with an upside potential of 7.6 percent.

According to the study, IT experts expect the industry to grow, but just slightly more than last year. Executives predict growth will be driven by IT services and software sales. However, many experts believe the weaker growth is a reflection of the current economic climate.

"Among IT firms, concerns about weak consumer and corporate demand; downward pressure on margins; access to capital; and government regulation continue to weigh on business confidence," said Tim Herbert, vice president of research at CompTIA.

To prepare students and young professionals for the challenging economy and job market, experts believe IT training should be offered. St. Louis Today reported that many companies are offering IT training programs and certifications to employees so they can the business can operate with up to date technology.
