Recent research conducted by Gartner found hybrid IT, a combination of internal and external IT departments, is changing the role of many professionals in IT careers. The shift toward a hybrid IT department stems from many businesses choosing to adopt both public and private cloud solutions."Many organizations have now passed the definitional stage of cloud computing and are testing cloud architectures inside and outside the enterprise and over time, the cloud will simply become one of the ways that we 'do' computing, and workloads will move around in hybrid internal/external IT environments," said Chris Howard, managing vice president at Gartner.Experts say a hybrid IT department allows CIOs and CEOs to save money while having access to IT services. Many IT professionals like the power and storage of public cloud computing, but do not believe it has the proper security measures, which is why hybrid cloud computing is becoming more popular.According to IT World, there are no set measures for cloud integration and it is up to CIOs and their IT staff to work with their cloud platforms to take advantage of both public and private clouds.Thomas Bittman, a researcher at Gartner, told the website there are four "centers of gravity" for a hybrid cloud, which gives businesses a choice for how they choose to integrate both types of cloud offerings.
