In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Biju Thomas, manager at Deloitte and Touche, said technology professionals can make themselves more attractive to employees by gaining IT training and certification to help them stand out from the competition.The need for highly trained IT professionals is expanding beyond standard technology companies. More companies are deploying advanced communication and collaboration tools throughout their business operations, demanding qualified professionals to manage and oversee these projects. Skills in managing big data, integrating mobile devices into the workforce and consumerizing information technology through different devices are highly sought after in new hires, the Constitution reported.In addition, the U.S. Department of Labor recently announced it is giving San Jacinto College $4.9 million to develop cyber security training courses to more than 2,500 unemployed and incumbent workers. As cyber security is an ongoing threat across numerous industries, the grant will be used to supply companies with employees to operate these tasks, Your Houston News reported.The IT training courses will focus on increasing the skill set of unemployed workers with college degrees in the Houston area. Many workers likely to participate will have engineering or other IT degrees, but no recent training in the on-demand areas, the source reported.
