Citrix addresses BYOD in businesses

Citrix is targeting businesses with a new set of features the company is adding to its cloud storage solution, ShareFile. Citrix identified challenges that business IT faces when it comes to sharing data in a cloud environment. Businesses with sensitive data face compliance and security challenges that extend beyond the challenges of consumer-centric cloud storage.

"With an increasingly distributed workforce that expects it to be easy to store and share their files and content, IT departments are under more pressure than ever to ease up on data storage policies to improve end user access and productivity,” said Jesse Lipson, VP and GM, Data Sharing, Citrix.

Bring-your-own-device is one trend driving the demand for data management solutions. The business demand for data management requires professionals with IT training and expertise in highly secure technology that can protect company data, control access and still allow the seamless data access experience that consumers benefit from.

SMBs in particular are experiencing a growth in BYOD as more businesses buy tablets for the workplace. The line between personal and professional devices is blurring, according to a recent TechTarget article. The challenge for employees and businesses is implementing solutions that successfully separate work data from personal data when both types are being accessed by the same device.
