A brief history of New Horizons
For the past 30 years our innovative, award-winning learning methods have revolutionized the way students learn, retain and apply new knowledge.
Responding to critiques that IT is no longer necessary for businesses, a recent post at CIO.com outlined a list of reasons why IT training may be more valuable than ever before. While the CIO post acknowledges that advances in technology and shifts to cloud computing have changed the role of the traditional IT department, it argues that this change presents new, more substantive opportunities for those in IT careers. This is because computing training and familiarity with the industry allows IT professionals to provide expert opinions to their employers for how to embrace and implement new technology.Outsourcing certain tasks or adopting applications that use the cloud can free up the IT department to develop new services and create value for a business, the post explains. And even if companies choose to outsource certain tasks, they will continue to need employees with IT training on hand to make technology easier to understand. This reasoning is supported by a Forbes.com blog post that says the role of IT in businesses will be increasingly strategic with the adoption of more cloud technologies. The blog argues that bridging the gap between the departments handling business strategy and IT is increasingly important. Those with an IT training background may be in the best position to handle this change.
