Colorado 'app economy' currently strong

One of the most popular trends in information technology is application development, and according to the Boulder County Business Report Colorado has a lot of people who could have an IT career. Looking at a report by CTIA - The Wireless Association and the Application Developers Alliance, mobile app development has created more than 8,000 jobs across the state and has a $429 million economic impact.

The report showed that even with the number of jobs created by apps in Colorado, the state doesn't even crack the top 10 in the United States. The report showed the top states for the app economy in the United States are:

1) California - 151,000 jobs
2) Washington -  49,800 jobs
2) New York -  39,800 jobs
4) Texas -  25,000 jobs
5) Georgia  -  24,000 jobs

"Based on this analysis, the app economy turns out to be remarkably diverse," the report said. "The conventional picture of an app developer is a single person working in a basement, or perhaps a small firm with two or three programmers. However, we found in our study that a surprisingly broad range of enterprises are searching for workers who have the ability to develop, maintain, or support mobile applications."

Those looking for an IT career may want to see what the app economy may have for them.
