Best tech jobs for 2013

Computer systems analysts will likely be a popular IT career choice in 2013, according to a new list compiled by U.S. News and World Report. This job got an overall score of 8.2/ out of 10 by the source's grading system, and has a median salary of $78,770.

"Those who can dissect the inner and outer workings of a desktop as easily as scientists do specimen will excel as computer systems analysts," the news company said of the No. 1 tech job. "The job entails designing and developing computer systems and knowing the ins and outs of hardware, software, and networks."

Rounding out the top five of the U.S. News list were:
- Database administrator, with a median salary of $75,190
- Software developer, which has a median salary of $89,280
- Web developer, with a median salary of $77,990
- Computer programmer, with an average annual payout of $72,630

Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News, said that lining up interests, education and skills with employers is a big challenge, so people will have to be diligent in their job search. One way to make sure the skills are up to par is with continued IT training for those in a technology career.
