Microsoft is generating a lot of buzz with a number of new upgrades to its software, IDG News Service Reported. The upgrades range in scope from complete revamps of the company's operating system with Windows 8 to major updates to Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office. The release dates for the coming wave of new software vary by product, but the wave may pour into 2013.With so many upgrades coming out at once, it may be difficult for potential and current IT career professionals to understand the impact new software could have on their IT environments. IDG highlighted advice from International Data Corporation analyst Al Gillen."They should identify what technologies they want to put in place and understand where the gaps are, what's available in the market and what Microsoft's portfolio has today and in forthcoming products. They need to determine what pieces fit where and what the potential adoption curves will be for their organization."Another challenge that comes with constantly evolving software is information sharing. Programs that lock their data within their own code make it difficult for developers to build applications that function across many platforms. Microsoft recently expressed support for open data protocol, a standardization for coding that would enhance application interoperability across multiple platforms.
