The Tanzania government recently announced it is looking to enhance its information and communication technology to help local entrepreneurs and ICT startups translate their ideas into successful business ventures. The goal of the program is to enable IT professionals with ICT computing training to advance the tech industry in the country and worldwide.Tanzania Deputy Minister for Communications, Science and Technology, January Makamba, launched a mobile applications development training program as a first step toward enhancing ICT in the country. The program enabled 30 young IT enthusiasts to undergo IT training in mobile application development to equip the local economy with more tech-savvy professionals.The ministry will help create an environment for growth of ICT in the country while developing critical IT professionals at all levels to bridge the divide between digital and business operations. The government hopes increased ICT investment and will reduce business restrictions and boost innovation and entrepreneurship."We are looking into setting up an innovation fund to support startups and entrepreneurs in technology," Makamba said. "This should boost startups and help them progress economically."
