Mia Gwyn
Instructor
What Mia Gwyn loves about teaching is the students, but in her own words: “The best part of teaching is knowing that I’ve helped people; the highest compliment from my students is when they ask me “Can we request you as our instructor next time?” Or even more amazing when they say “I keep thinking, where would I be now if I had had teachers like you when I was growing up.” She takes a fun approach to teaching, focusing on making her students laugh to keep the morale up in the classroom. It just goes with her style of going above and beyond of what is expected from a teacher. During classes, she always provides more material and exercises than are commonly found in the books, applying real world value to her students rather than just theoretical knowledge. She draws on her years of experience with teaching in the New Horizons network to provide outstanding training. She is a true master of the Microsoft Office suite, teaching everything from Excel to OneNote, a rather underrated program that could be your next best friend.

"New Horizons was a great experience for myself! Richard Mitchell is an fantastic instructor. He not only taught me the material but was able to really prepare me for the certification exams. I attended his CompTIA A+, 5 day, course and, I was able to pass the 2 exams right after! I definitely plan on going back for future certification classes!"

"You have restored my faith in New Horizons. I am sincerely impressed with Ralph Nyberg and the CompTIA SYS-501 Security+ Logical Operations Exam course. Ralph enhanced the course with exercises, quizzes, vocabulary, and knowledge reinforcements to the standard NH information packet (pdf textbook and slides). His objective based approach is superior and reflects well on NH. The AF / DoD requirement for information assurance certification leads many to take the Sec+ exam without administrator experience. The exam is difficult enough without the handicap of a lackluster presentation. I'll let you know how I feel when I retake the exam! My confidence is restored, let's see how it comes out."
"I was initially skeptical about bring a trainer in to train a significant amount of employees. However, after the first class was over, and I saw that people stayed with us the entire time, I was relieved. I heard nothing but positive comments about the sessions. Many of those comments came from people that rarely speak to me, which reinforces how effective the training was. Sean was able to successfully walk our employees through a process to recognize a phishing email. Phishing is our number one Cybersecurity threat. This causes the IT department and our employees a significant amount of grief. This training for employees was definitely helpful, not only to the employees, but to IT staff as well. I would recommend Sean’s course to every organization. The cost of training compared to the cost of technology solutions designed to combat phishing email is not even close. The training dollars spent will payback almost immediately."
