Mia Gwyn

Mia Gwyn
Instructor

What Mia Gwyn loves about teaching is the students, but in her own words: “The best part of teaching is knowing that I’ve helped people; the highest compliment from my students is when they ask me “Can we request you as our instructor next time?” Or even more amazing when they say “I keep thinking, where would I be now if I had had teachers like you when I was growing up.”

Gabe Chapa

Gabe Chapa
Instructor

As a former New Horizons student, Gabe can relate to students’ experiences better than most. He prefers to utilize both theoretical and real-world examples in his classes to produce a well-rounded experience for his students. “My favorite part of instructing is seeing the “a-ha” moment when a student gets it,” Gabe states. He knows that classes can be a bit of an improvisation game when it comes to questions so he remains ready for anything, and knows that the way he sets up the class creates a relaxed and informative environment that leads to the highest levels of student satisfaction.

His range of experience has provided him with valuable insight to share with our students. The examples he can pull from his history perfectly match the theoretical content he teaches in his classroom. He approaches his classes with high energy and a positive attitude to create a comfortable and fun environment for students.

Nick Lane

Nick Lane
Instructor

Nick has been a Technical Instructor with New Horizons since 2005. Prior to joining the New Horizons family, he worked in the commodities and telecommunications industries. Once he joined New Horizons, he realized his passion for teaching and seeing students succeed in his classes. In his own words, his teaching style can be summed up as: “I start with easy-to-understand summaries, elaborating afterward to cater to both beginner and advanced learners. Humor always lightens the mood, so I always find a way to interject a joke or two. I teach it “like it is.”

"Sure I'll come to Tucson to help you out for a bit." That's what I told my brother's in-laws when they opened up New Horizons in Tucson June of 1997. Twenty years later, three kids, and a great career at New Horizons, I don't think I'm considered a Californian anymore. Not only did I help write the prospectus and was a part of the process to get investors to open the new center, but I came out to assist with sales. I never would have thought I'd connect with so many great people out here over the years, but I've got some great stories...
