Course Overview

This course explores how to use Databricks and Apache Spark on Azure to take data projects from exploration to production. You’ll learn how to ingest, transform, and analyze large-scale datasets with Spark DataFrames, Spark SQL, and PySpark, while also building confidence in managing distributed data processing. Along the way, you’ll get hands-on with the Databricks workspace—navigating clusters and creating and optimizing Delta tables.   You’ll also dive into data engineering practices, including designing ETL pipelines, handling schema evolution, and enforcing data quality. The course then moves into orchestration, showing you how to automate and manage workloads with Lakeflow Jobs and pipelines. To round things out, you’ll explore governance and security capabilities such as Unity Catalog and Purview integration, ensuring you can work with data in a secure, well-managed, and production-ready environment.

Who Should Attend?

Before taking this course, learners should already be comfortable with the fundamentals of Python and SQL. This includes being able to write simple Python scripts and work with common data structures, as well as writing SQL queries to filter, join, and aggregate data. A basic understanding of common file formats such as CSV, JSON, or Parquet will also help when working with datasets. In addition, familiarity with the Azure portal and core services like Azure Storage is important, along with a general awareness of data concepts such as batch versus streaming processing and structured versus unstructured data. While not mandatory, prior exposure to big data frameworks like Spark, and experience working with Jupyter notebooks, can make the transition to Databricks smoother.

What is DP-3011 Implementing a Data Analytics Solution with Azure Databricks training, and is it worth it?

This one-day course teaches data professionals to prepare, analyze, and govern data at scale with Azure Databricks. It’s worth it if you’re pursuing a career in data analytics or engineering, roles that often pay $95,000–$130,000+ annually in the U.S. according to Indeed and Glassdoor. With Databricks skills, you’ll be better positioned for career paths such as data engineer, analytics engineer, or cloud data architect.

Will this course help me clean and prepare messy datasets in Azure Databricks?

Yes. You’ll learn how to use Delta Lake for schema enforcement, data versioning, and time travel, tools designed to ensure data quality and reliability before analysis.

Can this training show me how to automate pipelines so my team spends less time on manual data prep?

Absolutely. The course covers Delta Live Tables, giving you the skills to build real-time, automated pipelines that keep data flowing to analytics tools without constant oversight.

How will this course help with governance and compliance in Databricks?

You’ll gain hands-on experience with Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview, which provide fine-grained access controls and auditability to keep enterprise data secure and compliant.

Does this course prepare me for a Microsoft certification exam?

Yes. The DP-3011 course directly supports skills measured in the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate certification exam (Exam DP-203). While the course alone may not cover every DP-203 objective in full detail, it provides hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog that are critical for success on the exam and in real-world data engineering roles. Exam vouchers can be added to your training purchase.

What is an official Microsoft Training Services Partner (TSP), and why should I choose one?

New Horizons is an official Microsoft Training Services Partner (TSP), authorized to deliver Microsoft-approved curriculum with instruction that aligns directly to current certification and role-based standards. We also hold all six Microsoft Solutions Partner designations across Security, Modern Work, Business Applications, Digital & App Innovation (Azure), Data & AI (Azure), and Infrastructure (Azure).

Because we’ve achieved every required solution area designation, New Horizons is recognized as a Microsoft Cloud Services Partner, a status held by only a small number of training providers in the United States. This ensures that all Microsoft courses offered through New Horizons reflect real-world Microsoft best practices, validated content, and the latest platform capabilities.
